Name:The Night Dragon, Sovereign of Nocturne
The lineage and history of the Night Dragon is the stuff of legend. Story says he was birthed by Moon God who split the heavens with his spear and pulled him from the womb of darkness itself, which runs through his veins instead of blood. He is said to be undead, that his cruelty and his malice are the product of having no beating heart in his chest. Some believe he gave his soul to shadow, and that he is not a true shifter, but rather a dragon that uses glamor to walk among Men.

All that is know to be truth is that the Night Dragon is ancient, he loves bloodshed, and his rule has been uncontested for nigh on three thousand years.

The truth is far less strange than fiction, but far more tragic. Born Corvis Dunn of the Midnight Blood, he is descended from among the first of the dragon shifters of Nocturne, those who sacrificed the light for power. His birth began his legend, as the eldest of twins, born first without a sound while his mother suffered for three more days before her second son finally entered the world, howling with the furious indignation of his ordeal.

Growing up side by side, Corvis and Killian were close as many twins are: they shared everything, with the younger Killian living in worship of his older brother. Each inherited the magic of their bloodline at opposing sides: Corvis a shadow mage, Killian a fire mage, darkness and light. For centuries, their parents ruled as chieftans of their clan until a tragedy all but wiped out the Midnight Blood.

Corvis alone remained, a youth of but three hundred years old...and the last of his line.

Preserving his power in darkness by keeping secret his true name, Corvis rose to power through the art of the coux: through assassination, he usurped the leaders of weaker clans and formed a nation, one that eventually became a monarchy, and soon let the name and faces of his tribe be forgotten, but not their traditions. Under his rule, Nocturne became a realm of peace and prosperity, but life at court became a study in cunning and violence.

Names became power, power became currency, and all truth could be used as a step up to plant ones foot on the throat of those beneath them in the endless quest to rise through the ranks of the nobility.
